TO LEND SUPPORT TO BLACK STARS

H.E John Evans Attah-Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana left Accra on Thursday night for South Africa where he will witness the opening game at the invitation of South African President, Jacob Zuma.

The president whiles there will also visit the Black Stars ahead of their opening group game against Serbia in Rustenburg.

He said, "pep talks in competitions such as this are very important in motivating the players ahead of a crunch game."

He boldly told the media present that the Black Stars will bring home the cup but will not be disappointed if they fail to do so since according to him, "This is sports where sometimes you win or lose."

The president also stated he was unworried at complains of the team's insufficient preparations towards the tournament and said these things happen. "It's not always rosy when embarking on a challenging adventure such as this," he said.

The president will be in South Africa for a week during which time he is expected to meet with the business community in South Africa to push Ghana's economic agenda.

He will then return home and be replaced by the vice president in South Africa for presumably, the remainder of Ghana's campaign. The president concluded by jokingly saying, "I will send all of you (press gathered) one of these days to the media World Cup to see whether you can also bring home the cup."

 

The president also touched on the injury situation of the Ghana team but believes the team has more than enough to cause a stir in the tournament.
