H.E John Enabs Atta-Mills has revealed the difficulty he and his government had before arriving at the decision to approve the increment in utility tariffs.
He made this revelation at Abossey Okai during his un-announced visit to some business centers in Accra.
"I really wished we hadn't increased tariffs, but it became a necessity.
"It is supposed to affect people with large consumption of power and to those who use the service for commercial purposes," he said.
He however informed the gathering that the increment in electricity tariffs will only affect people who used over 50 units of power.
He also agreed that the increment should also come with improved services by the providers.
The president also promised to reduce the tariffs once conditions improve. |
