The Kumasi Police Service have announced they will not proceed with prosecutions of the French teacher popularly known as High Priest over radio comments which he is alleged to have called the president 'a Chimpanzee'.
The said comments were made on Monday on a Kumasi-based fm station, Fox FM which drew a large number of supporters to the premises of the station in an attempt to manhandle him.
The Police during the announcement informed the gathering that they were acting under the orders of the President himself through the Attorney General's office.
The President according to the constitution has the prerogative to prosecute and as such also has the right to discontinue or not proceed at all in prosecutions.
NPP sympathizers are asking the president to show mercy to a similar case that is currently on trial where Nana Baafi was said to have accused former president Rawlings of arson. |
