Their documents were received by the party’s general secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie at their headquarters in Accra and added to already filed aspirants in the persons of; former Trade Minister in the Kufour’s administration, Alan Kyeremanteng, Prof. Frimpong Boateng who was the former CEO of Korle-Bu teaching Hospital and Kumasi based lawyer, Kwame Kodua.

In addition to their documents, all aspirants paid a sum of GHC 25,000 as filling fee and are expected to appear before a vetting committee before elections are held to select a flag bearer.

This year’s filling of nominations was completely different from the last one which saw as many as 17 people vying for the flag bearer position. Also the drumming and dancing by supporters which accompanied with the fillings was absent this term. On the contrary, most of the documents were filed with a few following and in a more solemn atmosphere.

The vetting committee will commence its work on 10th June after which elections will be held on August 7 to elect a flag bearer that will lead the party to the 2012 general elections.
