| IN CIRCULATION TODAY |
The much awaited new GHC 2 note will be in circulation today. As expected, there is huge anticipation as to how the notes really look and feels. People will definitely queue in front of the banking hall of the Bank of Ghana just to emerge as the first recipients of the notes as was witnessed with the redenomination of the cedi.
There will be a short ceremony in front of the banking hall of the Bank of Ghana where the governor, Amissah Arthur will make a short statement and then enter the banking hall. In the hall, he will cash a cheque for the new notes to signify its circulation. He will then come back to answer some few questions from the media.
The new notes has a portrait of Ghana's first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in front of it and also has pictures of both the old and the new parliament building to signify how far the country's democracy has come. The introduction of the new notes is ease the pressure on the GHC 1 notes which will improve its connectivity in the process. |
