MINORITY CRITICISES THE GOVERNEMNT ON ARBITRARY ARREST IN THE NORTH
The minority in parliament today addressed a press conference led by Hon Ambrose Derry where it made several allegations mainly;
· why arbitrary arrest of abudus and NPP activities are been made as a knee jerk reactions to what it’s supporters and former President Rawlings want
· Why has the Presidential commission that was promised in the manifesto prior to the elections has not been formed 15 month in to the MILLS administration
Elaborating on the issues Hon Ambrose Derry gave instances where on the morning of 9th april 2010;
A large number of police and military personnel heavily armed were dispatched to yendi and navrongo to arrested people on a war that was fought amongst the abudus and andanis between 25 and 27th march 2002 where unfortunately , the yaana lost his life with 23 others
They searched people as though we were in a military era. 41 abudus were arrested and transported to bimbila and interrogated through excruciating pain , out of which 7 were taken to Accra and remain in custody up to date . the rest were left in bimbila without any arrange of transport to go back even though they were pick from a different town.
